Because of my dear husband, I have developed a love of old hymns and the writings of our church fathers. The words are, more often than not, rich in meaning and doctrine. This morning the Heidelberg catechism was a great comfort to each member of our family as we recited it in unison with our brothers and sisters in Christ. The part that stood out to us in particular was in reference to what we believe about God.

I trust Him so that I do not doubt that He will provide whatever I need for body and soul, and that He will turn to my good whatever adversity He sends me in this world. ~ Question 26

I know a lot of people are turned off by old writings because they can be difficult to read, but it is worth the effort.
